Simple, Cute, In-expensive Christmas Wreath

This simple, cute Christmas wreath is in-expensive to make and looks fabulous!

753

Here is the list of supplies you will need:

  • 1 tube of pipe foam liner stuff (found at any hardware store for about $1.25)
  • Duct Tape
  • Yarn of your choosing (I went with Lion Brand Homespun in wintery colors. I used 1 and 1/2 balls)
  • Christmas ornaments of your choosing. I went with felt snowflakes from JoAnn’s for $1 each. I bought 5.
  • Ribbon to hang your wreath. Pick a color that coordinates with your yarn.
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2 pins
  • lighter

To Assemble:

Cut the foam  tube to create the desired size of wreath.727

Hold the to ends together 729

Tape them together with duct tape. You may need someone to help you. My husband was handy…730

Now you have a tube and are ready to begin wrapping the foam wreath.

I put a little knot in the yarn. This will help anchor your yarn to the tube.

732

Take one of the 2 pins, put it through the center of the knot and fasten it to the wreath. I inserted the pin so it would be under the duct tape.

734736

Once your yarn is anchored down, you are now ready to begin wrapping.

737

Wrap the wreath with the desired amount of yarn. You will want to make sure the foam doesn’t show. 738

Once you are done wrapping, cut the yarn.739

Make a knot in the end and insert your 2nd pin through the center of the knot. Wrap the yarn till taught, then insert the pin into your wreath to fasten it down.

743

Them cut the yarn close to the pin. Use the lighter to light singe the yarn. This will prevent unraveling.

746

Now you are ready to add your embellishments. Arrange the embellishments how you want and glue them down.

751

Add your desired length of ribbon to your wreath, tie a bow and hang! Enjoy!

752

This wreath only cost me $7.50 to make since I already had the yarn, hot glue and pins.

Its Been Awhile...

I am so horrible at keeping up with this blog thing. I just mainly Facebook. The last blog post I wrote, I announced I was training for a marathon. Still am...and the marathon date is fast approaching. December 4th is the D-day. I am excited and nervous. I am still working on running, but having to do so carefully thanks to an injured IT Band. Sigh...I guess its the sign of a true runner.

The knitting has been happening like mad. As Christmas approaches, the knitting increases. Making gifts, working on orders. I am so blessed for the business. My friend has been helping me to use Ravelry more and I have to admit, it's been a blast.

Off to work on some projects...and yes, I ran today :o)

Training

Well sadly my knitting/crocheting and jewelry making side job has slowed to a crawl as I have begun training to run a marathon! I will be running the California International Marathon on December 4, 2011! I have been running for 2 weeks now and am up to 4.2 miles. I am also working out hard at my gym...strengthening my core which will make me a more efficient runner. I am so excited to be doing this. I still love my knitting, crocheting and jewelry making and will continue to do so. I will also be selling my wares at the Tattered House's Fall Antique show. So no worries :o) I just wanted to share my new side venture (or should I say adventure) with all of you.

Spring has Sprung!

I just received my May 2011 Martha Stewart Living magazine! I love spring and I love this magazine! On the cover is all sorts of poppies! I love poppies...not as much as Gebera Daisies, but love them.
So, I had to share this awesome picture I found via google. Here is the link: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/red-iceland-poppy-suzanne-gaff.html

With the warmer weather and the more frequently sunny days, I just want to get out and work in my garden, adding punches of color...breathing life back into the yard that had died this winter. I hope to work in the yard soon....

Here's to 2011

2011! Wow! Where did 2010 go? For that matter...where did my 20's go? I always told myself that I would not be one of "those" people. The people who freak out over turning 30. I have to be honest...as the "30's" bear down on me...I must admit...I'm not looking forward to it. I will except it with grace only because I have to. I have no choice...Ready or not...here it comes.

What do I have to look forward to? Hopefully children, continued success in my career and online store, staying in shape (this is the fittest I have been since my cross country days of 2000). I am sure there are more, but it's midnight and I have to be up at 5:30AM to go to the gym with my friend.

So, thank you to all my friends who have paved the way for me...30 Here I come!

A Beautiful Day…

It’s absolutely gorgeous outside! And where am I? Inside…working for my day job. ***Sigh*** I wish I could be out in the brisk, cool air; sitting on a bench with my Starbucks coffee, knitting away…or taking Daisy for a walk. Something that would require me being outside. But no, here I sit in my home office working. I love my job, don’t get me wrong. But during this holiday season, I want to play outside and well, just play.

I love stormy days in the winter, but since we have had quite a few storms lately, I am relishing the sunny day today.  If I were not working today, I would like to go to my favorite yarn store, knit outside, be creative in some sort of way. Well, maybe I can do some of that this weekend…after we put Christmas away.

I always hate putting Christmas decorations away. It’s so sad to me. The ending of one year, the ending of the holiday season. It went by way too fast this year. I guess it seems more sad to me this year as it was my last Christmas in my twenties. In 2011 I shall be turning 30! I am looking forward to my thirties, but I am not ready for it. :o)

As for the New Year’s resolutions…I plan on going to the gym more, especially now that I have a workout buddy. I plan on blogging more…a shock I know! And I want to create more patterns and other new items for my store. I had received this great kit for making glass pendants. So I will be working with that this coming year. I will continue my yarn obsession, my obsession with crafting, birdies and owls.

Well, I should get back to work now. More to come!

What’s New at DGC

With fall and the holiday season rapidly approaching, DGC has been hard at work generating new items that are hip, trendy and unique. Lots of items have been added for not only babies, but for pets too. DGC launched a new line for our furry friends called Posh Pooches by DaisyDog Wear. As of right now there are embroidered jackets for our four-legged friends. As winter nears, there are rumors of dog sweaters joining the line up of doggy fashion. Be sure to check back 006 Here is Daisy modeling one of the Posh Pooches trench coat by DaisyDog Wear. Poor dog…it was a 100 degrees out that day. She did a good job of sitting still for the photographer.

Other recent additions to the DGC store are new items for babies. There are embroidered onesies and fleece blankets! These are so adorable.

008Here is a fleece blanket.017An embroidered onesie.

There are items for boys too. Sadly, there are not too many at the moment, however, we are hard at work on some new hats for boys. We do have a onesie for boys and a couple of baby fleece blankets. Be sure to check back in to see what’s new in the baby line.

DGC has also been working on new tea towels (all purpose towels), new coffee cozies and messenger bags!

040Embroidered messenger bag has adjustable strap and 2 side pockets. Flap secures with Velcro.

017 Embroidered coffee cozie with button clasp.

024 Here is an embroidered flour sack towel. Perfect for hand towels in your guest baths or as dish towels in the kitchen.

Well, that is the latest update on the DGC store. Check back for updates and new items.

Take Care!
